So I went and saw the movie Dear John tonight. One word- depression. This movie was so incredible but it made me sooo sad.

It just made me think about Chris the entire time. Every little thing in the movie was just a reminder of the little things me and Chris have together. I related so much to it and I don't know if that was good or bad. haha I had to keep myself from literally weeping and sobbing throughout the movie. It was very difficult to sit through, and it also scared me so much. If any of you didn't know, Chris is in the military. Well as of now he goes to the Naval Academy, but after graduation he will be deployed and all that jazz. And watching this movie just terrified me. I needed him there with me more than ever to hold me and tell me everthing would be ok and that he was here. It was just really difficult. I just want anyone who watches this movie to see the love those two have for each other and know that is exactly how I feel about my Christofer. He is my light my world my strength. He is my everything. I don't know how I'm going to handle saying "See you soon then" to him when he is being shipped over seas. I can barely handle sending him back to school. Anyways, I just needed to vent.
Til Next Time,
EMILY

LAKER GAME

Well it's been a while since we went, but I'm going to tell everyone about our trip to L.A. anyways. haha Chris and I were able to take a quick trip to Los Angeles, California to go see a Laker's game. If you didn't know, that is Chris's all time favorite basketball team and the one I most despise! lol When you love someone you must make sacrifices right? haha Anyways, so we left around noon on Tuesday,12-29-09 and the game started at seven. We got to the hotel around 4:30, and both of us were pretty tired so we decided to nap. Unfortunately for Chris (poor guy) I just couldn't sleep so I figured I'd just get myself dolled up for the game. haha and this is when I discovered all the things I forgot to bring.
HERE we go :
Tooth Brush/Toothpaste
Deodorant
Curling Iron
Blow Dryer (thank heavens they have them in most rooms)
Hairspray
Eyeliner (well my good one anyways I lucked out and found my old one)
Camera
I think that's about it. Haha So everything I needed to bring to get ready I pretty much forgot. Well Chris being the wonderful man that he is :) skipped his nap to go check out their shop in the lobby to see all what he could get for me. I hopped in the shower and used their crappy blow dryer to dry my hair. It took forever. When Chris returned I was able to completely get ready cause now I had hairspray and a toothbrush and all. It was incredible. Haha The best part was the camera. He bought a disposable camera which was so sweet because I was so upset that we forgot one. Except he paid $14.99 for it. HAHAHA I couldn't believe it! He had no idea they are only like 5 bucks regularly. We decided we'd just take it back but instead of doing it right away we'd just do it when we checked out. Now......Time for the game!
Our hotel was just up the street from the Staples Center (walking distance easily) I did really well at picking the hotel haha. And we had a blast at the game :) See the picture. haha

After the game, we decided we weren't too hungry because we had MASSIVE hotdogs at the game. haha So we walked back to the hotel and got in our jammies and just watched t.v. I figured we'd end up just going to sleep but after about an hour we decided we got pretty hungry and found out there was an Ihop or Denny's and a Subway. I chose ihop so we walked and had a nice midnight meal. And back to the hotel we went for some sleep.

The next morning check out was at noon. We didn't end up waking up until a little after 11 haha So we rushed to get our stuff together and get ready. Then headed to check out where we also wanted to return the camera. Turns out, over night they like to change their prices of things in this little shop and it just so happens that over that one night we were there was when they changed the price of the camera's. lol So instead of 14.99 they were now 15.99 and they wouldn't let us return it even when I said, "I will just give you the dollar to make up the difference." So we got stuck with a fifteen dollar disposable camera. haha

Driving home pretty much sucked. It was bumper to bumper traffic for about two hours in the city. Once there was a little break in traffic we were relieved until next thing we know we hit more bumper to bumper traffic. After about three and a half hours we made it to Barstow where we took a rest and ate some food. My mom was in Cali the same time we were so we met up with her and my aunt and my mom decided to ride home with us. Just our luck, it was the day before New year's eve and everyone was heading to Vegas. So bumper to bumper traffic ALL the way home. It was a nightmare. So our trip home that should have taken about 4 hours took us about 8 and a half hours. But it was worth it and I know I had a blast. I'm very happy I got to take that trip with him and I wouldn't have traded that for anything.

Labor Day in Maryland

To start off, I just want to say my first trip to Annapolis, Maryland is one of the most memorable weekends of my entire life. Over labor day weekend this year (September 2009) I had the opportunity to fly out to Maryland with Chris's family to visit him for the weekend. We got up really super early Friday morning and hopped on the plane at about 6 AM. Since they are three hours ahead of Vegas time we landed around 4 PM. The anticipation of getting to see Chris for the first time in almost 3 months kept me awake for the entire flight. Haha. Unfortunately, Chris was extremely busy that night with his school work and making those stupid bulletin boards that's a whole different story. Anyways, so we got settled in our hotel room where Carl (Chris's dad) disinfected the entire room including the beds. Haha. Well since Chris was super busy that night, we didn't get to see him but we got the chance to drive onto the "Yard" which is what the campus of the United States Naval Academy is called and see how beautiful that place is. It was so amazing there. I loved it. We weren't exactly hungry but we ended up at the Double T diner which is the place to go in Annapolis if you are ever there. We just got some dessert that night and I had a delicious strawberry shake :) We ended back at the hotel room and passed out for the night. The next morning was so crazy. Just the feeling was intense knowing that I was going to get to see Chris within a matter of hours. We were up by about 7:30 getting ready and weren't allowed to pick Chris up until about 12:30. Obviously we had some time to kill. So we got ready and left the hotel around 9. While waiting for the time to come, we headed back to the Double T diner for breakfast then drove onto the yard in hopes of picking him up a little early. Unfortunately it didn't happen. We went to the visitors center to check things out. It was fun for me but his family had already been there twice so I don't think they were to thrilled to see it all again. haha Well we decided to go around town do a little shopping. I bought a Navy sweater and a Navy t-shirt. I loved the little shops they have there. Its much like any other touristy area and the little souvenier shops the big cities have but its in this small town of Annapolis that I never even heard of until Chris. Haha But this place deserves to be known. Its GORGEOUS. Anyways, finally the time came for us to pick up Chris. By this time the anticipation was killing me!!! I wanted to scream from excitement. We drove back onto the yard and went to pick him up by his
dorm room. Funny thing, he wasn't there. He thought we were picking him up from a different place and the worst thing about the Yard is you drive one way all the way around it pretty much. Haha So my excitement was really getting to me. We got to the area that he was at and Carl goes "Now Emily, control yourself. We don't want you running up and jumping on him and wrapping your legs around him or anything crazy." Haha It was pretty funny. Then....the big moment......I saw him. I was so happy, I thought I was going to cry. I got out and gave him a huge hug and the first thing he says is "Give me a kiss". I was extremely happy but shocked because he told me he'd never even hold my hand in front of his parents. Haha. I was in heaven at that moment and I will never forget that feeling. Well we got in the car and I couldn't stop looking at him. He was perfect. As much as I knew that I was the luckiest girl in the world before this trip, at that moment, it was all reassured to me that he was so completely amazing and I just really lucked out on this one. From there we went to the mall to take Chris to lunch at Red Robin. One of my favorite places EVER (fyi lol) but I was still too full from breakfast. Even all through lunch, my insides were just turning with excitement. I was with him and I couldn't have been happier. From there we walked around the mall a bit but no one really had anything to do or buy so we decided it was time to go back to the hotel room for nap time. Haha I must admit I was a little sad that some of my time with Chris would be wasted sleeping. But we got to the room. Everyone put on their jammies and we crawled into bed. I thought I was in heaven when I first saw him, but a new kind of heaven opened up when I was able to lay in his arms. I have never been more happy to nap in my entire life. Not to mention, I don't think I have ever slept so well. If there was one moment in time that I could live over and over, it would be that moment. Well we woke up from our naps and got ready again to go to dinner. None of us could decide on what we wanted so we ended up at, oh what do you know, the Double T diner. Haha
After dinner we still couldn't decide on what we wanted to do so we figured we might as well just go back to the room and relax. Once again it was so amazing to just get to lay in his arms and talk with him. I wish I could have that all the time. I will definitely say that I cherish those little things more than ever because I don't have them very often. Of course Chris had a midnight curfew so we drove him back to the yard and the whole time I wanted to cry. Even though I knew I would see him again the next day, it was so hard to say goodbye.
The next morning we all woke up a little bit early because it was Sunday and Chris and I were going to go to church. When we got to the church, Cameron cried and cried so we decided it was best to just take him with us. Funny. Haha He was such a stinker but I thought it was funny like I always do when kids are that way. Chris took him out in the hall and then when sacrament was over we were going to leave and Cam told everyone he talked to "Chris bad boy. Chris spank. Chris stop it now." Hahahahaha It was the funniest thing lol. After church we went and got pizza for lunch then headed back to the hotel so his family could take a nap. While they did that Chris and I went to see a movie. (All About Steve) Once again, I cherish that time we had together where I could just sit next to him and hold his hand. At the end of the movie, we had a red slurpee that he was holding and he said something silly so I went to hit him jokingly and really hit the cup. Red slurpee all over his white uniform!!! I felt soo bad! I wanted to cry. Lol So after the movie it was nap time for us too. We went back to the hotel napped ( HEAVEN on EARTH) woke up and went to Outback steak house for dinner. YUMM!!!! Then we walked around that shopping center for a little bit. Drove around town more and got some ice cream. Still with nothing to do, back to the hotel room for some relaxing time. I loved it. Dropping him off that night was even harder knowing that the next day wouldn't be the same and I would be going back home.
Monday had come and it was the day he had to stay on the yard and he had LOTS to get done. For lunch we just picked up some subway and headed to the yard where we ate lunch with Chris. This is where he gave me a special gift that I cherish. Then we walked around the yard to see everthing. It was gorgeous. Me and Chris didn't really talk a whole lot. We both just knew that it was our last little bit together for a while. It was very sad and I had to fight back tears multiple times. Well after a couple hours with him, he needed to get some stuff done so we said our goodbyes. :( Not a fun time. I didn't cry. I am shocked. I held my composure really well but after we left I knew my whole demeanor had changed. With really nothing to do and no where to go before we had to get to the airport, we drove to Washington DC. It was pretty awesome to get to see all of the government buildings and what not. Then off to the airport.
The flight was a very interesting one. I did tear up a bit but did really well at stopping myself. Almost the whole flight Chris's parents and I talked about tons of stuff. It was so nice to just talk to them and get to know them and have them get to know me better. It was a great way to end a great trip.

Remember the Sacrafice

You stay up for 16 hours.
He stays up for days on end.
You take a warm shower to wake you up.
He goes days, even weeks, without running water.
You complain of a headache and call in sick.
He gets shot at while others are hit, and still moves forward.

You put on your anti-war and don't support the troop shirts and meet up with friends to protest.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure your cell phone is in your pocket.
He clings to the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about some of your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may never see some of his buddies ever again.

You walk down the beach looking at all the pretty girls.
He walks the street searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.
He wears all of his heavy gear and doesn't dare take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
You go out to lunch and complain that the restaraunt got your order wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same thing for weeks but still makes sure his weapons are clean.
You go to the mall to get your hair redone.
He doesn't get to brush his teeth today.

Your angry because you class or meeting ran 5 minutes over.
He was just informed he will be held over and extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend to set up a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your loved ones like every other day, not thinking much about it.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes and sigh when a baby cries out loud.
He gets a picture of his new child and wonders if they'll ever get to meet.

You criticize your governent and say war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear jokes about the war and make fun of men like him.
He hears gunfire, bombs, and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

Your parents ask you to do a chore or go to the store. You blow it off.
He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You crawl into your soft bed with down pillows and get comfortable.
He tries to sleep but gets woken up by helicopters and mortars all night long.
You stay home and watch t.v.
He takes whatever time he is given to write home, sleep and eat.

Please remember those who sacrafice everything for your freedom. Don't mock or judge them. If you do, I guess that's ok. Its not like you know the people who fight day in and day out for you to live your life comfortably anyways. Just remember to keep them as well as their families and loved ones in your prayers. Be grateful for their sacrafice.

Miles Away

Although you are miles away.
You’ll always be in my heart to stay.
You make me happy and everything more
You make my heart flutter and soar.
I don’t like to be without you.
My days are lonely and often blue.
But it’s okay
because I know someday
We can always be together
No matter the times no matter the weather.
You are my everything.
You free my heart to be happy and sing.
I can’t wait to see you get back
You presence is needed and most in lack.
I love you and miss you. I can’t describe my feeling.
All I can do is thank through kneeling.
Because God, He’s the one who sent you to me.
To finally be happy and see life like it should be.
